As a client-based project, my class and I collaborated with Silk Road Rising's Polycultural Institute, a Chicago-based think and create tank to create posters to promote their space and cultural diversity. My poster was inspired by the tile art of Samarkand,a famous city along the Silk Road. The color palette is inspired by Shah - I - Zinda,a mausoleum in Samarkand. I used the light green and light robin egg blue (Tiffany Blue) from the mausoleums of Shah-I-Zinda. For the lettering, I was inspired by Arabic and East Asian calligraphy. My idea of the poster comes from the Silk Road and how different cultures can evolve and transform their views in order to connect with a broader group of individuals.
