The Reinke Lab is a Chicago based research lab led by Dr. Beth Reinke, a evolutionary ecologist and assistant professor at Northeastern Illinois University, that focuses on exploring animal coloration and studying painted turtle populations on Lac Courte Oreilles,Wisconsin. 

Dr. Reinke runs an Adopt A Turtle program that supports both the cause and supplies for the researchers. In 2020, she asked my Graphic Design 1 class to come up with individual designs to send as a thank you and welcome postcard to her donors. 

My illustration was based on the aerial view of the lakes of Lac Courte Oreilles, both of which form the shape of a turtle itself.
